Tomatoes not a vegetable but a fruit...

We tend to take this red tangy fruit...yes it is a fruit not a vegetable...for granted. But do you know tomatoes are loaded with all kinds of health benefits for the body. They are in fact, a highly versatile health product and due to their equally versatile preparation options, there's really no reason to neglect the tomato as part of a healthy diet.

Apart from being a good source of vitamin A (along with pro-vitamin beta-carotene), vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin K, chromium, calcium, coumaric acid and chlorogenic acid, tomatoes contains lycopene. Apparently this substance is one of nature's most powerful antioxidants that help in the fight against cancerous cell formation as well as other kinds of health complications and diseases. Lycopene is not a naturally produced element within the body and the human body requires sources of Lycopene in order to make use of this powerful antioxidant. And no other fruit or vegetable has the high concentration of Lycopene that the tomato takes pride in. A recent study has shown that eating more tomatoes and tomato products could make people healthier and slash their risk of developing killer diseases such as cancer, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease.

So, what say ready to include more of this red tangy fruit into your daily diet plan:-)

  3. The benefits are true, however the amount needed to reap these benefits would have you bloated and broke from the amount needed to gain them. Enjoy these fruits of the God`s with pleasure, but the best way to attain the benefits is to use concentrated tomato paste! Even just to thicken or spice up sauces of all kinds renders the healing and antioxidants rewards. I LOVE fresh homegrown tomatoes, but savour them for that!
