First showers of monsoon are heartily welcomed by everyone after experiencing the scorching heat of summer isn’t it? But monsoons bring with it a spectre of diseases. So you need to have some herbs that will boost your immune system…
Well, to get these herbs you need not wonder in the forests, hills or mountains, they are easily available in your kitchen J One such herb is the Indian Lilac (Neem). The tree itself is a big transformer of carbon dioxide to oxygen and decreases the presence of malaria and cholera infections in the immediate vicinity. Basil (Tulsi) is another magical herb; its leaves are like an antidote for many fevers which occur in the rainy season. Sore throat can be prevented by gargling with tulsi leaves water. Bitter Gourd (Karela) has excellent medicinal properties and is used as a medicine for diabetes (with good results). In the monsoons, karela juice is very good for preventing/treating boils, itching, ringworm, fungal diseases. It is beneficial for liver disorders (specially induced by alcohol). People with respiratory troubles can also benefit from this vegetable. Turmeric (Haldi) is a very good antiseptic as it can act both internally (used for worm infestations) and externally for skin infections.
Precautions coupled with care really help you to enjoy monsoon. Have a healthy and safe monsoon!
